(dress: Forever21, slip dress: vintage)

I’m back in Virginia spending some time with my family before making my official move to New York. I have been in for the most part, which explains my lack of posts, I know it’s been a while. I should be getting back to blogging on a regular soon!

One of the perks of being out in the country are the long drives through the fields of nothingness. I made a random left into a cornfield and seized the idea of a photo op. This dress I got from Forever21 was the lightest thing I could find, enough for the humidity and scorching heat, the closest thing to walking around in the nude.

I almost completely forgot that I had these photos saved away in my computer from a couple of weeks ago! Brandon took me hiking somewhere in Pasadena and we both thought that maybe it would be the level of Runyon Canyon or a little light trail but we had no idea what we were in for. For better or for worse, let’s just say that the hike was unexpectedly a difficult challenge. We had to climb boulders, hike through streams, and lightly walk around rattlesnakes to get there. Dangerous but an experience that I would have never experienced otherwise. Arriving at the waterfall was great but we had not realized how many people were hiking until we got there. The area was a bit overcrowded but I enjoyed the scenery, nonetheless. I can definitely check that off my ‘things I’ve done in my life’ list.

Oh and I forgot to mention that we both fucked up our shoes in the worst way imaginable. Luckily for me, I put my newly purchased, dirty, converse in the washer. While Brandon, on the other hand, had to deal.

Where Ever The Wind Blows

Paired vintage slip dress and vintage sweater with heels from Zara.

More random trips to the desert and I think it will turn into a monthly routine. Dusty side roads, abandoned homes, and the emptiness from all around was the basis of our afternoon trip. I loved not having bystanders in my peripheral and working with a deserted area. The wind might have been both my peek and downfall of this post.

Stopped by this long road after a long drive, by the countryside, to look at horses and which resulted in me reminiscing about my childhood. Being away from home and living in the city for so long made me really miss an open space of nothingness and isolated roads with only one lane to drive on. I remember the bus rides to school that would take about an hour to pick everyone up (I was one of the first kids to get picked up) and would stare outside the window to look at horses and cows. Sometimes there was nothing else to look at except for fields of grass for miles on end. Now that I think about it, that was so relaxing.

The Dilemma

The dress is a bit too revealing for a real life situation (real life meaning going out and wearing in public). I guess I could layer a blouse or shirt under it but thought it would be appropriate to wear the dress (as is) due to the isolate location. Usually, before I make purchases on clothes, I try to map out all the possibilities of me wearing it. If those possibilities do not weigh out, I walk away from it. I would have walked away from this dress but I convinced myself to reason making ownership of it because 1) It would make a cool post and 2) I don’t own any white dresses. I like it though, it’s cool.
